Dissolve 35.6g in 1 litre of distilled water and distribute into containers with fermentation tubes (Durham). Sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.

Store the prepared medium at room temperature.
Precautions
If stored at 2-8°C the broth will become cloudy or form a precipitate. This should clear at room temperature but gas formation is the criterion of growth not turbidity.

General Description
Our titanium(IV) oxide nanopowder is a fine white powder composed of titanium dioxide nanoparticles with an average particle size of 21 nm, resulting in a high surface area of 35-65 m2/g. Two main physico-chemically distinct polymorphs of TiO2 are anatase and rutile. Anatase has a higher photocatalytic activity than rutile but is thermodynamically less stable.
Application
TiO2 nanoparticles were used to study the photocatalytic hexane vapor degradation. It has been used as a sorbent for arsenic removal. TiO2 nanoparticles are suitable for remediation of antiseptic components in wastewater by photocatalysis. It has also been used to study adsorption of DNA oligonucleotides by titanium dioxide nanoparticles.

Tryptose Blood Agar Preparation:
Suspend 30g in 1 litre of distilled water. Bring to the boil to dissolve completely. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
For blood agar, cool the basal medium to 45-50°C and add 7% of sterile blood. Mix thoroughly, taking care to avoid incorporation of air bubbles, and dispense into Petri dishes or other containers.
