What is Parafilm M?
Parafilm M® is a flexible, self-sealing thermoplastic film composed of a blend of polyolefins and paraffin waxes. It stretches to approximately 200% of its original length and forms a moisture-resistant, semi-transparent seal on glassware, culture tubes, flasks, and petri dishes without adhesive.
- Waterproof sheet interwound with paper to prevent adhering
- Flexible, odourless and tasteless
- Resistant to air, gases, alcohol, acids and alkalies
Properties:
Stretches 200% at 21°C and returns partially to its original size (4 inch × 125ft standard roll). At 82 – 93 °C, it softens enough to make an adhesive bond between papers, cloths, leathers, etc.
