Achieve maximum recovery of microorganisms during dilution with this protective, isotonic Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Maximum Recovery Diluent (Dehydrated).

Maximum Recovery Diluent combines the protective effect of peptone in the diluting solution1 with the osmotic support of physiological saline. The low peptone concentration in the diluent reduces organism multiplication in the sample for at least 45 minutes during the dilution stage.

Dissolve 9.5g in 1 litre of distilled water. Dispense into the final containers and sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.

Tryptone Soya Agar, Oxoid (dehydrated) is suitable to grow a wide variety of microorganisms. It’s a general-purpose agar medium containing two peptones, which supports the growth of both aerobes and anaerobes, the latter being grown either in deep cultures or by incubation under anaerobic conditions. Tryptone Soya Agar is recommended as a reference medium when testing selective media to measure the degree of inhibition.

Preparation of Tryptone Soya Agar, Oxoid

First, you add 40g of tryptone soya agar to 1 litre of distilled water (purified as required). You can boil to dissolve the powder completely. After dissolved, you can sterilise the medium by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.

You can store the dehydrated tryptone soya agar at 10-30°C and use before the expiry date on the label or store the prepared plates of a medium at 2-8°C.

Membrane Clostridium Perfringens (M-CP) Agar Base, Oxoid Composition

(M-CP) Agar Base, Oxoid Preparation:

Suspend 35.55g of m-CP Agar Base in 500ml of distilled water Mix well and sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 50°C and aseptically add the contents of one vial of m-CP Selective Supplement reconstituted as directed. Aseptically add the following sterile solutions dissolved in distilled water:

Haemophilus Test Medium Base (HTM), Oxoid Composition

Haemophilus Test Medium (HTM), Oxoid Preparation:
Suspend 21.5g of Haemophilus Test Medium Base in 500ml of distilled water. Bring to the boil to dissolve. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121° C for 15 minutes. Cool to 50°C and aseptically add the contents of 1 vial of Haemophilus Test Medium Supplement SR0158, as directed. Mix well and pour into sterile Petri dishes.

When stored as directed the supplement is stable until the expiry date stated on the label.

Oxoid Malt Extract Broth is used for the identification of yeast and molds in sterility testing.

Malt Extract Broth, Oxoid Preparation:
Add 20g to 1 litre of distilled water. Mix well, distribute into final containers and sterilise by autoclaving at 115°C for 10 minutes. This liquid medium is recommended for the cultivation of moulds and yeasts, during tests for sterility, etc.
