RunSAFE is a non-mutagenic fluorescent reagent that produces instant visualization of DNA bands upon Blue Light or UV illumination of agarose gels. Supplied in 6X DNA Loading Buffer, CSL-runSAFE is used to prepare DNA markers and samples for loading on agarose or
polyacrylamide gels. It is the most sensitive stain available for detecting the double-stranded DNA (dsDNA). It contains three tracking dyes (Bromophenol Blue, Xylene Cyanol FF, and Orange G) for visually tracking the DNA migration during the electrophoresis process. It is ideal for the environment requiring a safe , non-hazardous alternative to Ethidium Bromide. Storage Store at 4°C up to 12 months. For longer periods, store at -20°C. runSAFE Dye is light sensitive and should be stored protected from light.

Using RunVIEW is simple; first, cast a gel featuring two rows of wells with one matching pair of the preparatory combs supplied, before transferring the blue-light transparent gel tray to the MSCHOICE tank located on the base unit. Add sufficient buffer just to cover the gel, and remove the combs to load the DNA samples into the upper row of wells (loading tier). Replace the lid to connect the MSCHOICE tank to the integrated power supply before applying the voltage and switching on the blue LED gel illuminator. Watch through the bluVIEW lid viewing pane as the samples migrate in real-time to the second row of wells (extraction tier). Once the DNA bands of interest enter the tier, simply stop the power supply, remove the lid and harvest the DNA by pipette.

Precautions
Some of the pathogenic fungi may produce infective spores which are are easily dispersed into the laboratory. Such organisms should be examined only within a protective cabinet.
The combination of cycloheximide and chloramphenicol inhibits many pathogenic fungi. However, the mycelial phase of Histoplasma capsulatum, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Sporothrix schoenckii and Blastomyces dermatitidis is not inhibited by these antibiotics when incubated at 25-30°C .

Brilliance Salmonella Agar, Oxoid Preparation:
Suspend 27g of Brilliance Salmonella Agar Base in 500ml of distilled water. Add the contents of 1 vial of Salmonella Selective Supplement, resuspended as directed. Mix well and sterilise by bringing to the boil with frequent agitation. Cool to around 50ºC, mix well and pour into sterile Petri dishes.
NOTE: It is critical that the selective supplement is added prior to heating. When preparing volumes greater than 1 litre contact Oxoid Technical Support for directions.
Storage conditions and Shelf life
Salmonella Selective Supplement should be stored in the dark at 2-8ºC. When stored as directed, the un-opened products will remain stable until the expiry date printed on the packaging.
