TWEEN® 20 (Sigma-Aldrich)
Login to see pricesBrand:
Sigma-Aldrich
Description
CAS number: 9005-64-5
Suitability: Suitable for DNA extraction, RNA extraction, cell culture and protein purification
Synonym: Polyethylene glycol sorbitan monolaurate, Polyoxyethylenesorbitan monolaurate
General description
Tween®20 is a polyoxyethylene sorbitol ester that belongs to the polysorbate family. It is a nonionic detergent having a molecular weight of 1,225 daltons, assuming 20 ethylene oxide units, 1 sorbitol, and 1 lauric acid as the primary fatty acid. The ethylene oxide subunits are responsible for the hydrophilic nature of the surfactant, while the hydrocarbon chains provide the hydrophobic environment. Sorbitol forms the backbone ring to which the ethylene oxide polymers are attached.
Application
TWEEN 20 has been used as a component of:
• washing buffer and blocking buffer in Western blotting
• blocking buffer in immunohistochemistry
• washing buffer in ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay)
• reaction mixture in PCR (polymerase chain reaction)
• emulsifying agent for the preparation of stable oil-in-water emulsions.
• pre-extraction of membranes to remove peripheral proteins (used at 2% for extraction of membrane-bound proteins)
• blocking agent for membrane-based immunoassays at a typical concentration of 0.05%
• lysing mammalian cells at a concentration of 0.005 to 0.5%

Tannic acid, ACS reagent (Sigma-Aldrich)
Login to see pricesBrand:
Sigma-Aldrich
Description:
CAS number: 1401-55-4
Chemical Formula: C76H52O46
Molar Mass: 1701.20 g/mol
Synonyms: Gallotannin, Tannin
General description
Tannic acid (TA) is a natural, non-toxic organic acid with corrosion inhibitive property for metals and alloys. A chemiluminescence (CL) system of KIO4 (potassium periodate)–H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide)–Tween40 has been employed in the detection of tannic acid in industrial wastewater. Tannic acid hydrolyzes to form mainly glucose and gallic acid. Its astringent property is due to the presence of polyphenolic groups.
Application
Tannic acid may be used in the following processes:
• Synthesis of ferric tannate complexes by reacting with metallic iron.
• As a protein deproteinizing agent in genomic and plasmid DNAs preparation.
• As a reductant in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles.

Leishman’s Eosin Methylene Blue Solution Modified (Merck)
Login to see pricesBrand:
Merck
Description
The staining method according to Leishman is one of the standard techniques in hematological diagnostic procedures. Like Wright’s eosin methylene blue solution and May-Grünwald’s eosin methylene blue solution, it is used for staining of blood and bone marrow smears and clinical cytological specimens. The typical resulting color of cell nuclei is red to purple, which depends on the buffer tablets (Buffer tablets pH 7.2 or Buffer tablets pH 6.8). 500 mL of the IVD & CE-registered Leishman’s eosin methylene blue solution are sufficient for staining up to 1600 slides in Hellendahl cells. It is registered as IVD and CE product.
Application
For microscopy. For staining of blood and bone marrow smears and clinical-cytological specimens
